Sathabhishekam (80th Birthday Pooja) - Online Iyer

When a man reaches the age of 81, his family members organise a Sathabhishekam (80th Birthday Pooja) and celebrate it by gathering together and doing the Ayul Shanthi Homams, Kalasa abhisekam, and exchanging garlands for the couple to get the Lord’s blessings.

Sathabhishekam is also known as Ayul Shanthi Homam because it increases the couple’s longevity and provides them with excellent health and strength. The guy is said to have seen 1000 full moons throughout their lifetime, at which point spirituality begins to grow in their existence. The ceremony was witnessed by the couple’s relatives and friends who gathered in a function hall or temple, or even at their house.

It begins with a pooja for the family goddess, followed by nine homams for Ganapathy, Lakshmi, Amurtha Mrityunjeyar, Ayush, Danvantri, and Kalasabhisheka, following which the spouses exchange garlands and, in certain groups, Mangalam (Thaali) is optionally knotted. Once the ritual is over, the pair is regarded as Lord Shiva and Parvathi, and all of the guests and family get the couple’s blessings.
